Building a culture of excellence through Quality Learning Environments

Posted on:

School leadership teams came together in Whitecourt yesterday to continue their collective development of NGPS Quality Learning Environments (QLE). Representing a division-wide commitment to student-centred, collaborative, relationship-focused learning environments, the QLE serves as a foundation for quality pedagogy (how teachers teach) and highly impactful and effective instructional and leadership practice within NGPS schools.

Quality pedagogy, with respect to NGPS Quality Learning Environments, is comprised of five categories:

  • The Engaged Professional
  • Purposeful Assessment
  • Intentional Planning
  • Positive Classroom Culture
  • Responsive Instruction

School Leadership teams, made up of principals, assistant principals and lead teachers, will meet regularly through the year to recognize, articulate and share excellent instructional practice within the QLE and the categories of quality pedagogy and to champion the work and build capacity within their school communities and classrooms.
