Mayerthorpe students prepare for their futures with Dual Credit Health Care Aide program

Students are one step closer to certification having completed their first clinical practicum in the Health Care Aide program! Just over 20 students spent their Easter Break working at Spruce View Lodge in Whitecourt, Pleasant View Lodge in Mayerthorpe and Chateau Lac Ste Anne in Onoway to earn practicum hours.

"The value in these types of programs cannot be overstated," shared MHS Principal Dafydd Thomas. "Students are gaining valuable, practical experience in the health care field and a solid understanding of the occupation they're interested in pursuing, prior to leaving high school. Some may find employment in their chosen field prior to graduation. Having this knowledge and experience prior to starting a program supports future student achievement, employment and success."
