New principal announced for Fox Creek School!

We are pleased to welcome Mr. Ian Baxter to Northern Gateway Public Schools as Principal of Fox Creek School, effective September 2017.

Mr. Baxter comes to us from Coleman, Alberta where he has served as an Assistant Principal at Crowsnest Consolidated High School for the past eight years.

Over his 24 year career in education Mr. Baxter has garnered a wealth of leadership experience, most recently through his work with division professional development​ ​and​ ​action research in High School Redesign​. During the past 4 years, Mr. Baxter has worked with the Alberta Teachers' Association partnering with four other Alberta school jurisdictions and five Finnish high schools to engage in meaningful global education projects ​that empower students and educators to research and determine qualities of a great school that involve students in creating their futures. 

“Ian brings a wealth of expertise to the position both as a leader and as an educator,” shared NGPS Superintendent Kevin Andrea. “His commitment to student achievement and opportunity will be an asset to the Fox Creek school community.”

Mr. Baxter holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Lethbridge. He completed a Masters of Education at the University of Lethbridge in 2012.

Mr. Baxter is looking forward to the move, "My family and I are excited about our move to the community of Fox Creek. I look forward to joining the students and staff of Fox Creek School and continuing in the work of building a great school for all students in the community.
