COVID-19 Information for Families and Staff
UPDATED ON JULY 7, 2020
On March 15, 2020, the Government of Alberta announced a province-wide school closure, canceling all in-school classes indefinitely.
LEARNING AT HOME
On March 20, 2020, the Government of Alberta released new Content Delivery Guidelines to direct how students would learn while in-school classes were canceled.
- All Kindergarten to Grade 12 students, regardless of their geographic location or socioeconomic status, received at-home learning opportunities, either through online means or through other accommodations, such as course packages and telephone check-ins.
- Every K-12 student received final grades and a report card for the 2019-20 school year
- Provincial Achievement Tests and Grade 12 Diploma Exams were canceled.
NGPS staff have been working hard to provide learning within this new context, adapting lessons for online formats, planning for ongoing technology needs and keeping students and parents informed.
SCHOOL PLAYGROUNDS RE-OPEN
All NGPS playgrounds and sports fields were re-opened to the public in conjunction with local municipalities and the direction of Alberta's Chief Medical Officer. In accordance with Alberta Health and Government requirements visitors must follow public health guidelines. Playground equipment is not supervised or sanitized and adult supervision is required. Please wash or sanitize your hands before and after use.
MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS
This is a stressful time for many Albertans. Resources are available if you, or someone you know, is struggling or needs a little extra support, or advice on handling the stress, or ways to talk to children.
