Responsible to the Director of Facility Services
Advocates, nurtures and develops health and safety education and practices which inspire Northern Gateway Public Schools to remain a compliant, safe and healthy place at all times for all students, staff and stakeholders.
- Supports all Northern Gateway Public Schools' employees through personalized and confidential consultation and guidance in all matters related to employee safety
- Manages a comprehensive Occupational Health and Safety Program, including:
- job hazard assessment, training and orientation
- job hazard reporting and investigations
- safety compliance
- emergency response plan
Schools are considered to be one of the safest places in our communities. However, an emergency can strike anywhere and at any time. During an emergency, our first priority is the safety of our students and staff. In order to provide an effective response to any school crisis, NGPS follows the Division Emergency Response Plan which works in conjunction with schools, sites and other local emergency services since a school emergency could require the involvement of numerous agencies.
