We are pleased to welcome Mr. Dafydd Thomas to NGPS in the role of Principal at Mayerthorpe Jr/Sr High School, beginning in September of 2016.

Mr. Thomas has been teaching for 15 years and comes to us from Northland School Division where he served three years as Principal of a large 7-12 secondary school. Over the course of his career Mr. Thomas has demonstrated a commitment to teacher development, student and community engagement, collaboration with stakeholders and providing exceptional curricular and co-curricular instruction and assessment for secondary students. An active community member, Mr. Thomas is also an accomplished speaker and presenter.

NGPS Superintendent Kevin Andrea commented, "Dafydd brings a broad range of leadership experience to MHS, including much work in the areas of instructional programming, community engagement, Teacher Growth, Supervision and Evaluation and Aboriginal culture and educational issues. His skill set will be a positive complement to the team at MHS."

Mr. Thomas holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (Distinction) and a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta, and a Master of Education specializing in Aboriginal Land-Based knowledge systems for curriculum development, school and community engagement/enhancement.

I am excited for the opportunity to join the team at Mayerthorpe Jr/Sr High School and look forward to getting to know the students, staff and community as we continue to support and build a culture of learning, innovation and collaboration at MHS.   - Dafydd Thomas
