Nicole Moir accepts Assistant Principalship at Whitecourt Central Elementary

Northern Gateway Public Schools is pleased to announce that Ms. Nicole Moir will take on a new role with NGPS next year as Assistant Principal of Whitecourt Central Elementary School (WCS), effective September 2017.

A long-time Whitecourt resident and Hilltop alum, Ms. Moir began her teaching career with NGPS in 2001 at Percy Baxter School. Over the course of her 16-year career she has taught a diverse group of middle school students a wide variety of subjects while demonstrating a commitment to project based learning, differentiated instruction and effective communication with students, parents and colleagues.

 In 2011, she took on the school’s Inclusive Education Facilitator role expanding her duties to include the development and coordination of Percy Baxter’s inclusive education program and implementation of the Regional Collaborative Service Delivery Model.

NGPS Superintendent Kevin Andrea commented, “Nicole is a confident and collaborative Educator who has demonstrated a commitment to professional growth and leadership. Her understanding of school culture, student achievement and the community in which she lives and works make her an excellent fit for Whitecourt Central Elementary School.”

“I am excited,” shared Moir, “I’m joining an amazing school and I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone and to working with students, staff and parents in supporting the caring and collaborative learning environment WCS is known for.”

Ms. Moir has completed the NGPS Leadership Development program and holds a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta. She will begin her Master of Education studies this coming year.
