Northern Gateway Public Schools Superintendent Kevin Andrea, is pleased to announce that Mr. Brent Northcott has accepted a new leadership position within NGPS, as Principal of Hilltop Jr/Sr High School, effective September 2016.

“Brent is a motivated educator with a strong commitment to student success and achievement. His teaching and administrative experience, combined with his innovative leadership and willingness to listen, make him an excellent fit for Hilltop Jr/Sr High School.”

The principalship became available following the retirement announcement of current Principal, Mr. Egbert Stang.

Brent Northcott has been a teacher with NGPS since 2001. He served six years as Hilltop’s Outreach Program Coordinator before moving to an Assistant Principal position with Whitecourt Central Elementary School. Brent accepted the position as Principal at Mayerthorpe Jr/Sr High School in 2013.

I look forward to working with staff and administration to further a culture of innovation and achievement and to focus on opportunities that will continue to strengthen the capacity of staff and foster student success. Mr. Northcott has completed the NGPS Leadership Development program and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Education degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland, where he will pursue a Master in Educational Leadership, effective the 2016-17 school year.
