New Principal announced for Onoway Elementary

The Division is pleased to welcome Mr. Marc Dickner to Northern Gateway Public Schools as Principal of Onoway Elementary School, effective August 2024.

Mr. Dickner joins NGPS from Parkland School Division where he has been the Assistant Principal/Acting Principal for the French Immersion program at École Broxton Park School for the past five years. An educator for over ten years, Mr. Dickner has taught all grade levels from Kindergarten to Grade 12, with a focus on creating inclusive, creative, strength-based learning environments. In addition to his current role as Assistant Principal/Acting Principal, Marc has served in a number of leadership capacities spanning Indigenous Education, Collaborative Response, Literacy and Numeracy, School Health initiatives and physical literacy.

NGPS Superintendent, Kevin Bird, shared, "We are excited to have Marc join the NGPS team. His strong leadership skills and diverse educational experiences will be an asset to the Onoway Elementary School community. We look forward to his experience and vision moving forward."

Mr. Dickner holds a combined Bachelor of Physical Education and Secondary Education degree from the University of Alberta and is working on a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Athabasca University.
