Whitecourt School Bus Transportation

Posted on:

Northern Gateway Public Schools provides busing to and from school for all public and catholic students in Whitecourt. As you know, adjustments to transportation services were made over the past year to accommodate the new location/routing of École St. Joseph School.

At the time, a thorough review of the Whitecourt bus service model was also initiated, including consultation with staff and the principals of all Whitecourt schools from both NGPS and Living Waters School Division, to ensure that service is as effective as possible in getting all students to and from school and that both high schools are able to meet Alberta Education’s 1,000 hour instructional requirement.

Included in this review was the concept of a two run system that would shorten bus ride times for all students by as much as 30 minutes per day. More analysis will be conducted through the 2018-2019 school year with consultations planned for the Spring of 2019.

School bus transportation for the 2018-2019 school year will continue to operate as a single run system in Whitecourt. The key change for most schools will be a five minute earlier start time and earlier dismissal times for some schools. Complete details and times will be shared by schools prior to the end of the school year.

Thank you for your support as we work to provide the best possible service for all NGPS and Living Waters students.
