Cross Cultural Sensitivity Training

Painting by Eugene Alexis

On June 5 and 6, Elders and trainers from Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation presented Cross Cultural Sensitivity Training to 16 NGPS staff.

Through the training we learned more about the land, the people and the signing of Treaty 6, including that the Alexis Nakota Sioux have their own language, people, governance, land and culture.

THANK YOU to Elders Sam Aginas, Judy Alexis, and Arlene and Ronald Potts, and to trainers Eugene Alexis and Stephanie Alexis for spending the two days with us. The information you shared through presentations, stories and songs was powerful. We will take these teachings into our schools, classrooms and communities in order to take action towards ‘Truth and Reconciliation’ and to better support our students.

Ish nish.
