Becoming a school board trustee - Election is October 18, 2021

Alberta School Board elections will take place on Monday, October 18, 2021!

Are you passionate about kids and public education? You may want to consider running for a school trustee position!

The Nomination Period is now open and runs until 12:00 pm. on nomination day, September 20, 2021.

Elected by and accountable to the communities they serve, trustees, and the board as a whole, are:

  • Advocates for Alberta's children
  • Champions for education
  • Partners in education
  • Strategic governors
  • Political officials
  • A bridge between government and the community

How do I become a candidate?

Candidates must submit a completed Board Election Nomination Package to NGPS Division Office, located at 4816-49 Avenue in Whitecourt, or to one of the five schools indicated within the package, on nomination day, Monday, September 20, 2021, between 10 am and noon. A deposit of $50 in cash, certified cheque or money order must accompany the nomination. Candidate packages are available for pickup at the Division Office or can be downloaded here:
