Posted on:

Congratulations to Mrs. Jennifer Keay, Social Studies teacher at Hilltop High in Whitecourt! Mrs. Keay was presented with an award from Civix Canada for her work with youth around democracy and voting in Alberta and Canada http://bit.ly/vote-voice.

Mrs. Keay was presented the award at ‪#‎DemocracyBootcamp‬, a professional learning conference for elementary and secondary school teachers designed to improve their democratic engagement and instructional capacity, and enhance their delivery of the Student Vote program.

More about Democracy Bootcamp can be learned from this 2 minute video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyGgibewEfo.

Mrs. Keay has organized three Student Vote events at Hilltop and 4 Student Vote events in her previous posts. Last year, CIVIX CANADA, the group who organizes Student Vote, asked Mrs. Keay to have students video questions for the leaders in the Alberta election race. The videos were used to host a debate with the leaders, answering questions that concerned the youth of Alberta.
