WCS takes learning outside the classroom

Posted on:

Grade 5 students from Whitecourt Central Elementary took their learning outside the classroom on February 11 to join the 2015 World Snowmobile Invasion kick-off.

Students were invited to join the activities with a hands-on ice carving experience facilitated by Frozen Memories of Rocky View, Alberta (one of the company's artists carved the life-sized Polaris snowmobile!!). Chipper stations complete with ice blocks, gloves, goggles and tools, were all set up and ready for the students' eager hands and imaginations. Students had a lot of fun discovering what they could and couldn't carve into their ice blocks! Getting to take a photo while sitting atop the life-sized Polaris snowmobile sculpture and warming up in the heated igloo were also a hit!
