The Division is excited to announce the appointment of Ms. Paige Deacon to the position of Assistant Principal at Elmer Elson Elementary School, effective August 2025.

Ms. Deacon began her career in education as the Athletic Director and Department Head for Physical Education, at Hilltop Jr/Sr High School, finishing that role at Onoway Jr/Sr High School. In between her time at these NGPS schools, Ms. Deacon taught elementary for Sturgeon Public School Division. Serving at these schools, she demonstrated her capacity to lead, organize, and facilitate administrative operations and deepen her understanding of administrative objectives, while designing and teaching physical education programs for multiple grade levels.

In 2023, Ms. Deacon transitioned into the role of Academic Advisor and Counselor at OJSH where she has been a dedicated resource for students and families. In this position, she has gained valuable experience in supporting the diverse academic, social, and emotional needs of students and staff. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Ms. Deacon is an enthusiastic coach and volunteer within her school and greater community. 

NGPS Superintendent, Kevin Bird commented, "Paige is a compassionate and reflective teacher and leader. Her commitment to student success, and passion for meaningful and active learning will be an excellent complement to the Elmer Elson team."

Ms. Deacon graduated from the University of Alberta with Distinction, holding a Bachelor of Education Degree and a Bachelor of Physical Education Degree.
